 This is a week course that covers both the theory and practical skills needed to complete your mosaic installation.
Training as a skilled mosaic installer will give you a skill in a specialist trade and one which is very much in demand. You can expect to earn premium rates of between £50 to £100 per sq metre. Many mosaic projects are sizeable and lucrative such as swimming pools.
Our 1 week course will cover:-
• Introduction – health and safety, uses of mosaic and estimating and pricing
• Surface Preparation – testing areas for suitability, angles and falls and preparation prior to application
• Setting Out – bathrooms walls/floors, swimming pools inc steps and bowl, wet rooms and curved walls and pillars
• Adhesives – understanding types, using correct adhesives, explaining mosaic serrated trowels and adhesive beds
• Sheet Mosaics – types and correctly fixing
• Cutting Techniques – hand nippers, circular nippers, scribers and glass cutters
• Grouting – correct mosaic grouts, mixing and application
• Border Design – planning and creating a mosaic feature border, paper and mesh templates, installing the order alongside sheet mosaic
